We decided to host our Fourth of July Barbecue at our place. We just wanted to keep it small so we invited our immediate families only. We dont really have a huge place to begin with anyway. Fourth of July is one of my most favorite holidays. Since I was a kid, all I can think of is summer, that means NO school. Get to spend quality time with the family, and most of all, to eat LOTS of FOOD! Yes, we cannot forget the beautiful fireworks at night! It is not really a tradition for my family growing up, but often we are invited to my parent’s friends or our own extended family to host this event.
Throughout the years however, I have begun to realize the importance of celebrating 4th of July. It is to celebrate every year not only the “birth” of our country, but also to celebrate our freedom. Most of us, especially like me, probably just ignores it like the air we breath. The older I get the more I value the freedom that is given to me. I’d take pause at those that fought and died to preserve and protect our freedom. I am so grateful for this freedom, so I can spend as much time with my own family. I am also very grateful that I get to do a job that I passionately LOVE, in photography.
So do check out some images I manage to capture during this wonderful day. May America continue to celebrate this awesome holiday! God Bless America!!

All of your work is amazing, Joel–especially in the details, but I have to definitely comment on the food shots. I’m such a sucker for great food shots! Makes me wish I was there for your Fourth! Mmmmmm…
