I met Susan and Eddie through my good friend Danny Cortez of Danilo Photography. Danny was actually booked for their wedding date, and I am very happy that he referred them to me. Susan and Eddie are set to be married this coming August in the City of Buena Park, CA. We decided to have their engagement session at one of my most favorite cities in California, the City of Long Beach. More specifically, at the Long Beach Shoreline Marina. I was very excited to hold my very first “e-session” in Long Beach. We had planned to meet right in front of the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. I was really looking forward to have a gorgeous session with the Long Beach Shoreline Marina and The Lighthouse as a backdrop. I couldn’t wait for this day.
Unfortunately, a little event called “The Long Beach Toyota Grand Prix” just happened to fall on the same weekend. I talked to Susan about it the whole thing, who was relatively new to LA, but I pushed the idea of sticking with the plan. Even though I knew that with the race taking place on the very same location, I think it would be pretty cool to have the event serve as an additional backdrop, along with high pitch and very loud engine noises, huge crowds, and off limits areas. My wife Rachelle came with me to 2nd shoot. I knew my wife has an eye for photography as well so I though I bring her along. I was disappointed to find out that they kept the long beach aquarium and its immediate vicinity (the marina) off limits to those that do not have a ticket to the race. We were limited to The Long Beach Pike. I mentioned to my wife, that The Pike is actually an awesome place to have the session, and it wasnt as crowded as I expected given it was a Sunday, and the Grand Prix race was taking place at the same time right next to us. I was happy that Susan and Eddie were “game”, and when they arrived, we did not waste any time shooting. Here are a few favorites that me and my wife took that day:
