What a tremendous year for me! 2007 has been one every EVENTFUL year for me and my family. Earlier this year, after some words of encouragements from my friends and family, I have decided to launch my photography business. July of 2007, Joel Llacar Photography became an “official” business. I really wanted to focus on weddings because I believe in my heart that I can be very successfully capturing and documenting a new couple’s one of their most important day of their lives. I am also fortunate and so proud that Rachelle and I because first time parents to a wonderful and very healthy boy, Jordan Rolando Llacar. He will turn 2 months old this January 6th. Jordan has been a very wonderful blessing to our family. He is the first one from both sides of the family, so you can just imagine the excitement of his new grandparents! I hope he can become a photographer too, just like his Dad! Or he can be whatever he likes, as long as his Mom approves it! =P
I really want to list my goals for my business for 2008. I am very excited because so far it has been one good year for me, especially for someone who just started in wedding photography. I have eight weddings books for 2008 but I am constantly getting inquiries, and I am sure it will ramp up tremendously come January and February. This is really the time when brides do their Internet shopping for wedding vendors such as videographers, DJs, Bands, Florists, and most of all- Photographers.
After some careful and methodical assessments of my business, I have identified my Goals for 2008:
1. Network with Vendors and other Photographers in my area.
2. Fine-tune my Marketing and Promotional Materials.
3. Attend Workshops and Seminars in Business and Marketing, Post-Processing Workflow, and learn new creative and edgier style of photography.
4. Fine-Tune my Wedding Packages
5. Go into LifeStyle Photography
6. Shoot about 20-35 weddings a year
7. Establish my Brand
8. Promote my business heavily in my area and beyond!
9. Treat my Brides like ROCKSTARS!!!
10. Shoot my Brides like they are ROCKSTARS!!

Every bride is a rock star and killer to boot!
Looks like all I need to do is cut and paste your list into a Word document and I’m done. Pretty good list and impressed with what you want to accomplish. Hope I can find the time to work on mine. Cheers and Happy New Year!

There’s an old adage that says – If you don’t have goals how do you know when you get there!
We have started up a campaign on lifestyle photography as well and are interested in how well this will dovetail with our wedding and “standard” portrait businesses.
Best of luck in 2008,
Elizabeth and Frank Myers
